There is no stopping Bernie McGuire otherwise known as Stitchit Bernie as she closed the doors of her Sewing & Alteration business nine weeks ago. This Thursday she is back in action on her sewing machine in a brand new building (See pics below) on Donegal Street, Ballybofey (opposite O Malley & Scanlon Insurance offices). She has added a range of handmade masks and PPE gowns to the services she offers.
A master of her skill, Bernie not only provides alterations and sewing needs to her customers in Ballybofey and the North West but has many brides travelling from all over Ulster for her bridal alteration service after creating bespoke christening gowns when needed from those stunning wedding dresses! Another service Bernie offers is that you can bring a picture of any outfit you want created and she will produce it for you without even needing a pattern!
Bernie didn’t stay idle in the last nine weeks, herself and her family created over 2000 masks free of charge to the Frontline workers both in Donegal and all over Ireland. “Sure it was something to keep us busy” she told me.
In 2017 she organised a Charity Fashion Extravaganza in Kee’s Hotel showcasing fashion locally with all the proceeds going to St Mary’s NS, St Columba’s College and Finn Valley College.
There is great interest in Bernie’s new service, of the Personal Protective gowns and masks. Packs of 3 masks in adults and children sizes are available to order through her Facebook page or call in to her new shop on Donegal Street.
The gowns are available in a choice of colours to suit you and your brand and Bernie can also have your logo embroidered on any of the items.
I want to wish this hardworking lady the very best in her new location as a small local business. I know she will go from strength to strength within the community, that she supports so well.
