Tonight, students of St. Columba’s College, Stranorlar took part in Strictly Come Dancing in Jackson’s Hotel. These young transition year students have been learning the skills of ballroom dancing over the last number of months and their hard work was showcased on Friday night.
The show opened with an energetic and fun filled jive performed by the entire group. This was followed by each of the couples’ individual dances.
The couples were Michael Harris and Isabel Conaghan, Thomas McMenamin and Andrea Browne, Fazian Sohail and Caitlin McGonagle, Dylan Doherty and Tiffany Marley, Daniel Crawford and Aoife Bradley, Sean Coleman and Brooke Ramshaw, Mark McGhee and Sarah Morris, Peter McMonagle and Olivia Reid, Pete Byrne and Abby Meenan, Aodhan Walsh and Dervla Dunnion, Pauric McKelvey and Sarah Sweeney and Mark Sproule and Ellie White. Amanda Bates, Louise McLaughlin and Aoife McGonagle did a wonderful job of presenting the show.
The audience were given the chance to vote for their favourite couple. While the votes were counted, last years’ winners, Sean Coleman and Rachel Bonner performed their winning routine.
The show concluded with another crowd-pleasing group dance. A wonderful end to the night came when audience members filled the dance floor, celebrating the talent and success of the students of St Columba’s College.
The dancers thanked choreographer, Shona Tinneny for her expertise and guidance. Judges on the night were Jim Tinneny, Sean Mc Dermott and Lauren Mac Donagh.
