Last October I met up with Rosemary Sweeney from Stranorlar. She made an appeal to artists of Donegal to paint and donate their picture for her big fundraiser for the Men’s Shed in Ballybofey.
It has been a great success, but there are still artists who have committed but have yet to give in their picture. The deadline is this Thursday, St. Patrick’s Day. If you have painting and need them collected you can call 085 1429908.
The big sale of Art will take place on Saturday 9th April from 10am to 8pm in the Parish Centre in Stranorlar, behind the chapel with loads of parking.
All the paintings will be sold from 50 euro to 100 euro with many of the paintings worth a lot more.
A preview of some of the fabulous pictures will be on display on McElhinney’s window a week before the sale.
Rosemary said ‘We have been given the gift of a framed painting by one of our leading artists, T Doherty which will be raffled on the day of the sale on 9th April. I would like to thank everyone for their support and I will announce the final figure at the sale. This is all cash sales and we have no facility to do otherwise and all for a great cause’, she concluded. Below are just a small example of what will go on sale on the day. You have to attend the sale to buy the paintings.
