McGettigan’s open their latest Bar in Dublin 9

Where else would you get the Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy Cups, the Galway players, players from the Dublin football All Ireland winning team, the Beatles Tribute band and much more on a Thursday night all under the one roof? Only in the warm hospitality of a Donegal family in Dublin.
The McGettigans Group officially opened its doors last night. McGettigans Dublin 9, in Whitehall and is part of the new Bonnington Hotel Dublin.
Guests were invited along to join in on the celebrations enjoying complimentary drinks and food.
After the formalities the Beatles Tribute Band entertained the crowd. It was nice to see former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern there on the night getting a lot of attention from guests getting selfies with him making it clear to any onlooker he still has the charisma and charm.
I also spotted and had a brief chat with Boyzone’s Keith Duffy. And of course the night would not be the same with our own Martin McGettigan along with his nieces Lorraine and Catherine who greeted the guests on arrival.
The new bar is over 4,600 square feet and has been created with a modern and contemporary vibe to bring a whole new offering to the local area. With a versatile layout of high benches, snugs, dedicated dining area and a smoking area, it is perfect for groups of all kinds whether it’s a get together with the girls or a large corporate function.
Dennis McGettigan, CEO, McGettigan Group, said; “We are delighted to be officially opening our 7th bar in Ireland today, the place where it all started for us. The McGettigans bars are steeped in Irish history and we have used this to bring our customers a ‘Modern Irish Experience’, both at home and abroad. Our bars are all about excellent food, drinks, service, entertainment and sport and McGettigans Dublin 9 will be no different. We look forward to welcoming the people of Dublin back into a McGettigans establishment.”

McGettigans D9 is part of the major upgrade of Dublin’s landmark hotel, the Regency Hotel, which is now rebranded as the Bonnington Hotel Dublin. The refurbishment will see an investment of over €10 million along with the creation of 50 new jobs, to add to the current 150 employees. This significant project will see the hotel transform over the next 18 months into a new four-star hotel that will encompass 240 bedrooms, a state of the art leisure centre, a brand new conference centre, and a newly refurbished Appian Lounge and bar.

See you all at the next opening!
