I am just back from a 4 night break in Vilamoura, stayed in the Tivoli Marina Hotel overlooking the beautiful Marina.
We flew with Easy Jet from Belfast International Airport, don’t forget they only allow one bag!!. No delays which was great and landed safely. Anyone who knows me will know I am a very nervous flyer!
The taxi to and from the airport to the hotel cost €45.00. My first impression of the hotel was the size of the foyer it was huge, we checked in, made our way to the 6th floor. The bedroom was nothing out of the ordinary but the view on the balcony overlooking the Marina made up for that. It was clean with a balcony overlooking the Marina.
The cost of the hotel for 4 nights was €1,207 including breakfast! I can hear you saying ‘What’ I know but it was a once off and you are paying for the location!
The breakfast was amazing with a great selection to choose from. The breakfast room was massive and led outside to the pool area, so you had the choice of sitting in or out of the sun.
I am not a sun person so stayed mostly in the shade protecting my makeup and fake tan!! I decided to have a Berry smoothie at the pool bar costing €8…..a vodka and tonic along with the smoothie cost €19
On the second day I decided to avail of the Tivoli Spa, booked an Indian Head Massage costing €50 lasting 30 minutes, I loved it. My hair as you can imagine was oily afterwards so I found a hairdressers next door to the hotel. got a wash and curly blow-dry costing 35 euro!! But had no choice but to get it done as I didn’t bring any tools with me!
Every evening we walked to the Marina where there was plenty to choose from and all tastes catered for. I spend my time in the Italian restaurants enjoying pizza’s one night and spaghetti Bolognese and big fluffy ice creams!
It’s a small world……while walking around the Marina after 11pm who did I meet only Aoibheann Walsh and her fiancé Neil Barrett coming along on their bikes! That was fun for a while, they were having a ball.
I only had hand luggage and needed some clothes to get laundered I checked the prices in the hotel…….extortionate so I found a laundrette on the Marina called ‘Aquamarine’ who washed and dried the lot for €9.50 which was the price of one or two items to get it done in the hotel!
On our last night we bumped into Lynda Strain from ‘Lynda Strain makeup/spa and her fella Donal. We had a few drinks and spent our last night with them.
All in all a fabulous location which I really enjoyed and a real treat, but very expensive!
